Seen Him? Attempted Gas Station Robbery Suspect Wanted In Toms River

TOMS RIVER, NJ — Toms River police detectives are seeking the public's help to identify a suspect involved in an attempted armed robbery at a local gas station. Authorities have released surveillance footage captures of the individual, hoping that someone will recognize him and come forward with information.

The attempted robbery occurred during the early morning hours at a service station along a busy local highway corridor. The suspect entered the convenience store portion of the gas station and confronted the clerk. He brandished a weapon and demanded cash from the register. However, the quick-thinking employee managed to retreat to a secure back room, locking the door and calling emergency services.

Realizing his attempt had failed and that law enforcement was on the way, the suspect fled the scene empty-handed. He was last seen running toward a nearby residential neighborhood. Toms River officers, including a K-9 unit, searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect immediately following the dispatch call.

"The store clerk did exactly the right thing by prioritizing their safety and securing themselves," a police official stated. "We are now focusing on identifying the suspect before he can attempt another robbery."

The suspect is described as a male, approximately six feet tall, last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and face coverings. Anyone who recognizes the individual in the surveillance photos or has any information about the incident is urged to contact the Toms River Police Department's investigative division.
