Suspect Identified In Home Depot Wire Theft In Toms River
TOMS RIVER, NJ โ The Toms River Police Department has officially identified a suspect wanted in connection with a series of thefts targeting industrial copper and electrical wire from the local Home Depot store. The announcement comes after a thorough investigation fueled by tips from the community and clear surveillance imagery.
According to police files, the suspect repeatedly visited the Home Depot location on Route 70 over several weeks. During these visits, the individual allegedly bypassed cashiers and walked out of the store with large spools of high-value electrical wire. Copper and industrial wiring have become frequent targets for thieves due to their high resale value at scrap metal yards.
After store management reported the recurring thefts, police released images of the suspect captured by the store's loss prevention cameras. The community response was swift, allowing detectives to confirm the identity of the suspect within a matter of days. A warrant has been issued for the individual's arrest on charges of shoplifting and grand larceny.
"We want to thank the public for their assistance in quickly identifying this suspect," the department shared in an official update. "Retail theft affects everyone through increased prices, and we are committed to holding these individuals accountable."
Law enforcement is now actively seeking the location of the identified suspect. Additionally, local scrap yards and metal recycling facilities have been alerted to watch out for individuals attempting to sell large quantities of industrial wire matching the stolen inventory. Anyone with information on the suspect's current whereabouts is asked to contact the Toms River Police Department.
