Two Arrested Following Attempted Armed Robbery at Topeka Kwik Shop

TOPEKA, Kan. — Two Topeka residents have been taken into custody following a failed armed robbery attempt at a Kwik Shop convenience store on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Officers with the Topeka Police Department responded to an emergency call reporting an attempted robbery at the Kwik Shop location. Store employees reported that the suspects entered the premises, displayed a weapon, and demanded money. However, the robbery attempt was unsuccessful, and the suspects fled the scene shortly before police units arrived.

Armed with descriptions provided by store staff and witnesses, responding officers flooded the surrounding area. Within a short time, police located and arrested two individuals matching the suspect descriptions. Both suspects were booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on charges related to the attempted armed robbery.

The Topeka Police Department commended the swift action of the responding officers and the cooperation of the store staff, which prevented any injuries during the incident and led to the rapid apprehension of the suspects.
