Howell County: International Burglary Ring Suspects Apprehended After Multi-State Chase
A sophisticated, multi-state burglary ring targeting affluent residences has been dealt a major blow following the arrest of two Chilean nationals in Howell County, Missouri. The suspects, identified as Fabian Navarro and Marcelo Telecheah, are currently in police custody and face serious state and federal charges for their alleged cross-country crime spree.
High-Tech Tracking Leads to Arrest
The intense manhunt began after the pair allegedly stole an estimated $140,000 worth of jewelry from a home in Oxford, Mississippi, last month. Utilizing traffic cameras and automated license plate readers, Oxford police successfully tracked the suspects' movements across state lines. The pursuit came to an end 271 miles away when Missouri state troopers intercepted their vehicle, which was sporting a different license plate.
Foot Pursuit and Seizure of Stolen Goods
The situation escalated when the suspects attempted to flee the traffic stop on foot. Following a brief chase, law enforcement officers subdued one of the individuals using less-lethal bean bag rounds, leading to the successful apprehension of both men. A subsequent search of their vehicle uncovered a massive haul of stolen jewelry, including loose gemstones, rings, bracelets, and necklaces.
Investigators have so far linked the two men to a string of similar burglaries across Mississippi, Alabama, and Missouri. Authorities are continuing to investigate the full extent of the burglary ring as the suspects await trial.
