Suspect Apprehended in Christmas Eve Commercial Burglary in Visalia

VISALIA, California — A local retail store was target to a break-in early Christmas Eve, leading to the arrest of a suspect shortly after the crime occurred, according to the Visalia Police Department.

On the morning of December 24, 2024, at approximately 4:00 AM, officers were dispatched to a retail business in Visalia following an activated commercial burglar alarm. Upon arriving at the scene, responding officers discovered signs of forced entry, including a shattered window, and observed that merchandise had been disturbed inside the establishment.

During a search of the immediate area, officers spotted a suspect matching the description of an individual seen fleeing the property. The suspect, who was carrying items suspected to be stolen from the store, was detained after a brief foot pursuit. He was arrested on charges of commercial burglary and possession of stolen property, and subsequently booked into the Tulare County Jail.

Business owners are advised to secure their premises during holiday closures, when commercial properties are historically at higher risk of opportunistic break-ins.
