Waco Man Accused of Stealing $5,000 in Tools and Attempting to Run Over Coworker
A Waco man is facing charges of felony theft and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after a workplace confrontation turned violent. According to an arrest affidavit, the incident began when employees at a local company discovered that nearly $5,000 worth of company-owned tools had been stolen from the premises.
Suspicion quickly fell upon a fellow employee who was observed loading the equipment into his personal vehicle. When other workers confronted the man in the parking lot and attempted to record his license plate, the suspect put the vehicle in gear and accelerated directly toward one of his colleagues. The coworker was forced to leap out of the path of the oncoming vehicle to avoid being run over.
Waco Police Department officers were dispatched to the scene shortly thereafter. Although the suspect had already fled, investigators recovered several key items of evidence and obtained witness statements. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest. The suspect remains in custody at the McLennan County Jail.
