Armed Suspects Flee Northwest D.C. Exxon Station After Victim Sprays Them with Gasoline
WASHINGTON, D.C. โ A routine stop at a gas station turned into a dramatic confrontation in Northwest D.C., where a motorist used a gasoline pump to fend off armed robbers.
The incident occurred on April 24, 2024, at an Exxon gas station in Northwest Washington. A man was pumping fuel into his vehicle when he was approached by a group of suspects. The individuals brandished handguns and demanded his valuables in an attempted carjacking or robbery.
Instead of complying with the demands, the quick-thinking victim pointed the active gasoline nozzle at the suspects and began dousing them with fuel. The unexpected blast of liquid gasoline caught the armed suspects entirely off guard. Fearing the highly flammable liquid and losing their element of surprise, the suspects turned and ran away from the scene immediately.
Metropolitan Police Department officers arrived shortly after but found the suspects had already fled. Police are reviewing surveillance footage from the Exxon station to identify the armed suspects, praising the victim's resourcefulness while cautioning the public about the inherent dangers of confronting armed individuals.
