Masked Theft Ring Targets Georgetown Alo Store in $20,000 Retail Heist
WASHINGTON, D.C. โ A coordinated group of thieves targeted the Alo Yoga retail store in the historic neighborhood of Georgetown, making off with merchandise valued at approximately $20,000, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred during operational hours at the high-end athleisure store. Witnesses reported that a group of six masked individuals entered the establishment in a organized fashion. The suspects quickly swarmed the display racks, grabbing arms full of premium clothing before fleeing the scene in waiting vehicles before law enforcement could arrive.
The brazen theft is part of a growing trend of organized retail crime affecting luxury and popular apparel brands in major urban centers. Police have released surveillance footage showing the group of suspects, all wearing masks and hoods to obscure their identities, moving rapidly through the store.
Investigators are analyzing the video and working with security teams from neighboring Georgetown retailers to identify the suspects and trace their escape route. Local business associations are calling for stronger penalties for organized retail theft and an increased police presence along the district's primary commercial corridors.
