Burglary Suspect Leaves Cocaine Behind at West Palm Beach City Hall

WEST PALM BEACH, FL — A highly unusual burglary attempt at West Palm Beach City Hall has resulted in the arrest of a local man who allegedly left behind personal evidence: a bag of cocaine. The incident, which occurred during the late-night hours, triggered building alarms and prompted a rapid response from local law enforcement.

According to the West Palm Beach Police Department, security systems alerted officers to an active break-in attempt at the municipal building. Upon arriving, officers found signs of forced entry at one of the side doors but no suspect on the premises. However, during a sweep of the entry point, forensic technicians discovered a small baggie containing a white powdery substance, which later tested positive for cocaine.

Evidence Leads to Suspect

Investigators utilized security surveillance footage from City Hall and analyzed the dropped contraband to identify the suspect. Security footage clearly captured the man struggling to gain entry, dropping the package, and fleeing the scene once the audible alarm sounded. Armed with this evidence and video footage, officers located and arrested the suspect nearby.

The suspect has been charged with attempted burglary of a structure, possession of a controlled substance, and criminal mischief. He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail. City officials confirmed that no sensitive documents or government property were stolen or damaged during the attempted break-in.
