'He Always Had Hope': Family Remembers Pizza Delivery Driver Tragically Killed in West Palm Beach Robbery
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. โ The family of a pizza delivery driver who was shot and killed during a robbery attempt in West Palm Beach is speaking out, remembering a father of two who was simply trying to support his children. Tommie Charles Anderson III, 33, was tragically killed on January 9, 2024, during only his second day on the job.
According to the West Palm Beach Police Department, the incident occurred around midday near Ninth Street and Douglass Avenue. Anderson was returning to his vehicle after delivering a pizza to a nearby residence when he was confronted by armed robbers. During the encounter, Anderson was shot and died from his injuries. The sudden violence prompted a precautionary lockdown at nearby U.B. Kinsey Elementary School.
Following a rapid investigation, detectives arrested three suspects: Elijsha Wingfield (25), Marcus Williams (29), and Avianna Kerr-Williams (29). All three face charges of first-degree murder with a firearm. Police stated that the suspects were driving around the neighborhood looking for a target when they spotted the delivery driver.
Speaking to local news, Anderson's sister reflected on her brother's spirit. “He always had hope,” she shared, describing him as a dedicated family man who took the delivery job to make ends meet for his two young children. “He wanted to build a better life, and he never let the hardships of life dim his optimism.” The family has established a memorial fund to assist with funeral costs and support for his children.
