Police Search for 'Ice Cream Thief' After Wichita Smash-and-Grab Burglary

WICHITA, Kansas — In one of the more unusual commercial break-ins reported recently, Wichita police are searching for an overnight burglar whose primary target appears to have been ice cream.

According to the department, the incident occurred during the late-night hours at a local establishment. Officers responded to the scene after an alarm was triggered, discovering a shattered glass door. Surveillance footage from the property shows the suspect breaking in and heading straight to the freezer compartments.

Store owners confirmed that the intruder focused on stealing ice cream, leaving other valuable electronics and registers intact. "It's definitely a strange theft, but the damage to our storefront is costly and frustrating," the owner noted.
