Four charged in weekend robbery, standoff in west Wichita

WICHITA, Kansas — Prosecutors have officially filed multiple felony charges against four individuals in connection with a weekend home invasion and a subsequent police standoff that locked down a west Wichita neighborhood.

Violent Home Invasion and Kidnapping

According to court documents released on January 16, 2025, the incident began in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 12, in the 1000 block of South Ellis Street. Prosecutors allege that the suspects broke into a residence, held two victims at gunpoint, and bound them with zip-ties. During the home invasion, one of the victims was severely beaten, sustaining a broken jaw, while the suspects ransacked the home, stealing electronics, handguns, cash meant for rent, and car keys.

GPS Tracker Leads SWAT to West Wichita Standoff

The breakthrough in the investigation came when law enforcement tracked a GPS tracker attached to the victims' stolen car keys. The signal led officers to a residence in the 13,600 block of West Nantucket, located in west Wichita.

When police arrived at the home, the occupants refused to exit, prompting a response from the Wichita Police Department SWAT team. After a multi-hour standoff, three suspects were taken into custody at the scene, while a fourth suspect was apprehended by police the following Monday. A fifth suspect has also been identified and charged in connection with the crime.

Felony Charges Filed

The Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office has charged 62-year-old George Bos, 33-year-old Andrew Denning, 51-year-old Robert Cook, and 19-year-old Trinity Cook with a list of felony charges, including:

• Aggravated kidnapping
• Aggravated robbery
• Aggravated burglary
• Aggravated battery

Each of the defendants is being held on high bonds in the Sedgwick County Jail as the legal proceedings move forward.
