Suspect in Wichita convenience store robbery is in custody, police say

WICHITA, Kansas — A suspect is behind bars following an armed robbery at a local convenience store in Wichita on Tuesday afternoon, police officials confirmed.

Quick Response to Convenience Store Robbery

On July 15, 2025, patrol officers with the Wichita Police Department responded to reports of an active robbery at a convenience store. Store employees reported that an individual entered the business, threatened staff while claiming to have a weapon, and demanded cash and merchandise before fleeing the scene on foot.

Thanks to detailed descriptions provided by witnesses and store surveillance footage, responding officers immediately flooded the surrounding area. Within an hour of the call, officers spotted a suspect matching the description nearby.

Suspect Detained

The suspect was taken into custody without incident. Investigators recovered the stolen cash and items in the suspect's possession at the time of the arrest. Detectives are currently interviewing witnesses and reviewing video evidence to compile a full report for the Sedgwick County District Attorney's Office.
