Delaware State Police Investigate Armed Robbery at Wilmington Valero Gas Station

WILMINGTON, DELAWARE — The Delaware State Police are actively investigating an armed robbery that took place late Tuesday evening at a Valero gas station in the Wilmington area, according to state authorities.

The incident occurred on August 27, 2024. According to preliminary reports, an unidentified suspect entered the Valero convenience store and approached the counter under the pretense of making a purchase. The suspect then brandished an undisclosed weapon and demanded currency from the store clerk. Fearing for their safety, the employee complied with the demands and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash from the register.

After obtaining the money, the suspect fled the scene on foot and was last seen heading in a northerly direction. The clerk was not physically injured during the encounter. Responding troopers patrolled the area but were unable to locate the suspect immediately following the incident.

State Police detectives are reviewing surveillance videos from the service station and are looking for a suspect described as a male wearing dark clothing and a mask.
