State Police Investigate Multi-Suspect Organized Retail Theft at Wilmington Target

WILMINGTON, DE โ€” The Delaware State Police have arrested one suspect and identified another in connection with a brazen organized retail theft operation at the Target store located at 1050 Brandywine Parkway in Wilmington. The thefts, which occurred in late September, resulted in the loss of hundreds of dollars in high-value merchandise.

According to investigators, the incident began on the afternoon of September 28, 2025. A male suspect, identified as 34-year-old Brendan Davis of Rehoboth Beach, allegedly filled a shopping cart with clothing and electronic items valued at over $900. Davis then exited the store without making any attempt to pay for the goods. He was met outside by an accomplice, identified as 25-year-old Daylast Deshields of Wilmington, who helped load the stolen merchandise into an awaiting vehicle.

A short time later, Davis returned to the store and attempted to duplicate the theft, filling a second cart with similar items. However, he was confronted by Target Asset Protection personnel. Davis abandoned the cart and fled the scene with Deshields in the getaway vehicle.

Following an investigation by Delaware State Police Troop 2, warrants were issued for both suspects. On October 7, 2025, Daylast Deshields was located and arrested. She has been charged with felony organized retail crime and second-degree conspiracy. Brendan Davis was subsequently apprehended in Pennsylvania and is currently awaiting extradition to Delaware to face identical charges. The State Police continue to work with local retail partners to combat organized retail theft syndicates operating in the New Castle County area.
