Winston-Salem Man Denied Bond After Machete Robbery at GameStop

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A Winston-Salem man is being held without bond after allegedly brandishing a machete during an armed robbery at a local GameStop retail store, local police reported.

The Winston-Salem Police Department responded to a call at the video game retailer where employees reported a man entering the store armed with a large machete. The suspect threatened staff and demanded merchandise and cash from the register. After obtaining the items, the suspect fled the scene, but quick response from officers and descriptions provided by witnesses led to his arrest shortly thereafter.

Due to the severe and dangerous nature of the weapon used, a magistrate ordered the suspect to be held with no bond at the Forsyth County Detention Center. He faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon. GameStop employees were shaken but uninjured during the incident.
