Winston-Salem Police Investigate Commercial Break-In and Theft at Local Gas Station

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — The Winston-Salem Police Department has launched an active investigation following a commercial break-in and theft at a local gas station on Tuesday afternoon.

According to initial police reports, officers responded to the scene on May 26, 2026, after receiving reports of an active break-in. Upon arrival, officers determined that suspects had entered the establishment with the intent to commit theft. During the course of the incident, an employee who was working at the convenience store was confronted by the suspects.

The perpetrators managed to locate and steal an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the premises in an unknown direction. Fortunately, no injuries to the employee were reported during the brief but tense confrontation. Police have not yet released detailed descriptions of the suspects or potential getaway vehicles.

Investigators are currently reviewing security camera footage from the service station and neighboring businesses to identify those responsible. The Winston-Salem Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding this incident, or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the area around 3:00 PM on Tuesday, to contact the authorities or submit an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers.
