Man Charged After Valuable Pokémon Cards Stolen from Aberdeen Shop
A man has been arrested and charged after a niche burglary targeting rare collectible Pokémon cards at a local hobby and games shop in Aberdeen, police confirmed.
The Pokémon Card Theft
The incident occurred during the night when the suspect broke into the retail premises. The thief targeted high-value collectible trading cards, specifically focusing on rare and vintage Pokémon cards that were displayed in secure glass cabinets. Shop owners discovered the break-in and missing inventory the following morning, estimating the loss to be substantial due to the rising market value of collectible cards.
Investigation and Arrest
Following a review of the store's security footage and forensics gathered at the scene, local officers identified the suspect. A man was subsequently arrested and found in possession of several items matching the stolen inventory.
A Police Scotland spokesperson stated: "We have arrested and charged a man in connection with a break-in and theft from a business premises in Aberdeen. High-value collectible items like trading cards can be difficult to trace, but thanks to security footage and prompt local intelligence, we were able to recover a portion of the stolen goods."
Charges and Court Appearance
The suspect has been charged with housebreaking and theft, and is scheduled to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court. Police are working with the shop owner to catalog and return the recovered collectible cards.
