Masked Gang on Motorbikes Linked to Holme Wood Burglaries
Police Release CCTV of Masked Suspects
Detectives from the Bradford District Crime Team (DCT) are urgently appealing to the public for information following a concentrated series of residential burglaries on the Holme Wood estate over the past week. To aid their ongoing investigation, West Yorkshire Police have released CCTV stills featuring five masked individuals riding on two motorbikes. The police are eager to identify and speak with these individuals regarding the recent break-ins. Officers are specifically asking anyone who witnessed the masked group operating in the Holme Wood area between the hours of 4:00 pm and 10:00 pm to come forward with information.
Reassurance Patrols and Arrest Made
In response to the distressing spike in local crime, West Yorkshire Police have significantly increased their visible presence, conducting dedicated reassurance patrols throughout the affected neighborhoods. Detective Inspector Queen, of the Bradford District Crime Team, emphasized the severity of the situation: โWeโre aware of the concerns from local residents about burglaries in the area โ burglary can be extremely distressing and we take all reports seriously.โ DI Queen also confirmed a positive development in the case, revealing that officers pursuing active lines of enquiry have already successfully made one arrest in connection with the burglaries.
Reporting Suspicious Activity
Gangs utilizing motorbikes or mopeds for burglaries often rely on speed and mobility to scout neighborhoods and escape quickly. Residents can help deter this activity by:
- Immediately reporting groups of individuals wearing balaclavas or riding motorbikes recklessly around residential streets, noting down registration plates if safe to do so.
- Ensuring perimeter gates are locked and wheelie bins are securely stored away from boundary walls, preventing them from being used as a climbing aid to access the rear of properties.
- Installing high-definition, motion-activated CCTV or smart doorbell cameras to capture clear footage of individuals scouting the street.
