Police Search for Four Men After Major Theft of Over 600 Artefacts from Bristol Museum Collection

Detectives investigating a high-value commercial burglary in Bristol have released CCTV images of four men they are eager to identify. The incident targets the offsite storage facilities of the Bristol Museum, resulting in the theft of more than 600 historical items.

According to Avon and Somerset Police, the break-in took place at the museumโ€™s secure storage facility located on Cumberland Road, Bristol. The burglary occurred in the early hours of the morning, specifically between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM on 25 September.

The stolen items are part of the museum's prestigious British Empire and Commonwealth collection. Officers have described the crime as a "high-value burglary" due to both the historical significance and financial worth of the artefacts involved. The loss of these items represents a significant blow to the city's cultural heritage.

In their appeal, police released surveillance images of four individuals who were seen in the vicinity of Cumberland Road around the time of the theft. Authorities are asking the public to look closely at the images and assist in identifying the men, who may hold vital information that could lead to the recovery of the stolen treasures.

Anyone with information regarding the burglary, or who has been offered historical artefacts matching this collection for sale, is urged to contact Avon and Somerset Police immediately, quoting the relevant investigation references.
