5 arrested after police stop armed robbery in progress at Cambridge mall

Five suspects have been arrested following a swift police intervention that stopped an armed robbery in progress at a busy shopping mall in Cambridge, preventing potential injuries to shoppers and staff.

Officers were dispatched immediately to the shopping center after receiving emergency calls reporting several masked individuals, armed with weapons, entering a retail store. The suspects threatened staff members and began smashing glass display cases to extract high-value merchandise.

Police Intercept Suspects at the Scene

Due to the rapid response of nearby units, officers arrived at the mall while the crime was still underway. The police successfully intercepted the suspects as they attempted to make their escape towards a waiting getaway vehicle. All five individuals were apprehended at the scene without further incident.

A search of the suspects and the immediate area resulted in the recovery of the weapons used during the robbery, as well as the bags containing the stolen goods. The five arrested individuals have been taken to the police station for questioning and face multiple charges, including armed robbery and possession of offensive weapons.
