Hastings Restaurant Devastated After Break-in Forces Mother's Day Cancellations
HASTINGS, East Sussex โ Management and staff at a popular Hastings restaurant have been left devastated after a targeted break-in on one of the busiest weekends of the year forced them to cancel all reservations for Motherโs Day.
The incident occurred on the eve of the Mother's Day celebrations, which is traditionally a critical trading period for local hospitality businesses. Intruder(s) forced their way into the restaurant, causing extensive damage to the dining area and kitchen, and disabling essential service equipment. With the premises unsafe for diners and key equipment out of action, the restaurant had to make the difficult decision to contact disappointed families and cancel their planned celebrations.
Heartbreaking Impact on Staff and Families
The cancellation of bookings has dealt a significant blow to the restaurantโs revenue and caused widespread disappointment for local families hoping to celebrate the occasion. "To have to call families who had booked months in advance to tell them their Mother's Day was cancelled was absolutely heartbreaking," the restaurant manager stated. "Our team had prepared extensively for this weekend, and to see our hard work ruined by a sensory crime is incredibly difficult to process."
The local hospitality industry has expressed its outrage over the incident, noting the vulnerability of restaurants to break-ins during major holiday weekends when cash and high-value ingredients are often on site.
Investigation Underway
Sussex Police have launched a full inquiry into the break-in. Officers have visited the site to gather forensic evidence and are currently reviewing local security camera footage to identify the culprits. They are appealing for anyone with information about the incident or who noticed suspicious vehicles near the restaurant during the night to contact police immediately.
