New Year Burglary: Lisburn Home Ransacked and Cash Stolen as Police Probe Linked Incidents
Detectives are appealing for information following a burglary at a residential property in the Lisburn area over the New Year period, during which a house was ransacked and a quantity of cash was stolen.
The incident is believed to have taken place between New Year's Eve and Sunday, 4th January 2026. Intruders gained entry to the property and systematically searched through rooms, causing significant disruption before fleeing the scene with cash.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) has confirmed that an investigation is underway. Officers are actively probing potential links between this break-in and other recent burglary reports in the wider Lisburn and Castlereagh districts. Security patrols have been stepped up in local residential areas to reassure the public.
A detective spokesperson stated: "We are currently investigating a burglary in the Lisburn area where a property was ransacked. We are examining whether this is linked to other recent incidents in the region. We are appealing to anyone who noticed any suspicious activity, vehicles, or individuals in the vicinity over the New Year period to contact us immediately."
Local community representatives have urged residents to remain vigilant, keep doors and windows locked, and report any suspicious activity to the police to prevent further incidents during the winter months.
