Saw-Wielding Burglar Battered After Targeting Wrong Family in Newcastle Raid

A terrifying home invasion in Newcastle took a dramatic turn when a saw-wielding burglar was overpowered and battered by the residents after targeting the "wrong family."

The intruder, armed with a saw, forced entry into a residential property in Tyne and Wear, threatening the occupants in what was described as a highly distressing confrontation. However, instead of submitting to the threats, the family members fought back, successfully disarming and detaining the burglar until police arrived.

Images released following the incident show the extensive facial injuries sustained by the suspect during the struggle. Northumbria Police arrived shortly after to arrest the battered suspect, who was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment before being transferred to custody.

Community members have praised the bravery of the family, though police generally advise residents to prioritize their safety and avoid direct confrontation with armed intruders. The suspect faces multiple charges, including aggravated burglary and possession of an offensive weapon.
