Tyne Theatre and Opera House Devastated by Break-in and Café Vandalism

Staff and supporters of the historic Tyne Theatre and Opera House in Newcastle upon Tyne have been left devastated after a break-in caused widespread damage and forced the temporary closure of the venue's Bistro café.

Intruders forced entry into the grade I listed theatre building during the night, vandalizing the café area and destroying fixtures and fittings. The severe nature of the destruction left staff with no choice but to close the Bistro to the public while repairs are carried out and evidence is gathered by the police. The management team expressed their deep sadness over the incident, noting the impact on the local community and the theatre's operations.
