Local Man Charged After Stolen Bicycle Recovered by Police in Southport

Merseyside Police have successfully recovered a bicycle stolen from a local business in Southport and subsequently charged a suspect in connection with the theft.

The incident occurred on Friday, January 31, 2025, when a bicycle was reported stolen from a retail shop within the Southport area. Following a swift response by local neighbourhood officers, the stolen property was located and recovered.

A male suspect was arrested at the scene and has since been formally charged in relation to the retail theft and possession of the stolen goods. The quick recovery of the bicycle highlights the ongoing efforts of the Southport Town Centre policing team to tackle commercial thefts and support local retail businesses.

Authorities have reiterated the importance of business owners and members of the public reporting thefts immediately. Crime prevention advice has also been issued to local shops, encouraging the use of secure locking systems, registration of high-value stock, and active surveillance systems to deter opportunist thieves.
