APPLE VALLEY, CA — Apple Valley sheriff’s deputies have arrested a suspect accused of smashing the front windows of two local businesses, leaving business owners facing thousands of dollars in property damage.
Destruction of Commercial Property
Deputies responded to multiple emergency calls reporting a vandalism in progress along a busy commercial corridor in Apple Valley. Callers reported hearing the sound of breaking glass and observing a man carrying a heavy blunt object targeting storefronts. Upon arrival, deputies discovered that the glass entryways and front windows of two adjacent businesses had been completely shattered.
Suspect Located and Charged
Witnesses provided deputies with a description of the suspect, who fled the scene on foot immediately after the window-smashing spree. Deputies searched the surrounding area and located a man matching the description a few blocks away. The suspect was detained, and physical evidence linking him to the vandalism was recovered at the scene of the arrest.
The suspect was booked into the High Desert Detention Center on charges of felony vandalism. The cost of repairing the custom commercial glass is estimated to exceed several thousand dollars, elevating the offense to a felony level.
