Three Arrested in Connection with Lumpkin Road Smoke Shop Homicide

AUGUSTA, GA โ€” The Richmond County Sheriff's Office has successfully apprehended three suspects in connection with the tragic slaying of an employee at an Augusta smoke shop during a robbery on Lumpkin Road.

The violent incident took place in mid-January, when armed suspects entered the smoke shop, demanding cash and merchandise. During the robbery, an employee was fatally shot. Initially, investigators arrested two individuals and charged them with murder and armed robbery, while launching a search for a third accomplice who remained at large. Following an intense manhunt and community tips, the third suspect was arrested and booked into the Richmond County Jail in mid-May.

All three suspects are now facing charges of felony murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. Local residents and business owners have expressed relief at the arrests, emphasizing the need for safety in the commercial corridors of Lumpkin Road.
