Vermont man arrested after smashing store window during burglary in Burlington

BURLINGTON, Vermont โ€” A local man was taken into police custody following an attempted commercial burglary in Burlington on February 25, 2025. Officers responded to a security alarm at a retail store after reports of glass breaking.

Upon arrival, responding officers discovered a shattered storefront window and located the suspect still inside the establishment. The individual was immediately detained without incident. Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect used a heavy object to breach the window in order to gain access to the merchandise inside.

The suspect has been charged with burglary, unlawful mischief, and possession of burglary tools. He is currently being held pending his arraignment. The Burlington Police Department thanked the vigilant community members who quickly reported the suspicious noise, allowing officers to respond rapidly and apprehend the suspect on site.
