Two Arrested Following Overnight Break-In at Cleveland West Side Vape Shop

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Two individuals were arrested early Tuesday morning after allegedly breaking into a vape shop located on Cleveland's West Side, police officials reported.

The incident occurred on August 27, 2024, at approximately 3:00 AM, when officers responded to a commercial burglar alarm at the establishment. Arriving units observed a shattered glass front door and heard movement inside the store.

Caught in the Act

As officers moved to secure the entry point, two suspects emerged carrying trash bags filled with various vaping products, electronic cigarettes, and cash from the register. The individuals attempted to flee on foot but were quickly apprehended by officers waiting outside the shop.

The suspects, identified as local residents, have been charged with breaking and entering, grand theft, and criminal damaging. The owner of the shop expressed relief at the rapid police response: “We've seen an increase in these kinds of break-ins, and we're grateful the officers arrived so quickly to protect our business.”

Rising Commercial Burglaries

Police are investigating whether the duo is linked to similar recent burglaries targeting convenience stores and specialty shops in the West Side neighborhoods. Both suspects are currently being held at the Cuyahoga County Jail awaiting their arraignment.
