Second Teen Arrested in Armed Robbery During Marketplace Meetup in East Haven

EAST HAVEN, CT — A second teenager has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed street robbery that took place during an online transaction meetup in East Haven, police confirmed. The suspect, a Hamden juvenile, is the second individual arrested in relation to the daytime heist.

According to the East Haven Police Department, the victim had arranged to meet with a buyer to sell merchandise listed on a social media marketplace platform. During the meetup, the situation escalated when the suspect and an accomplice produced a weapon and robbed the victim of the items. The suspects fled the area immediately after the confrontation.

Following a joint investigation by East Haven and Hamden detectives, the second teen was located and taken into custody. He faces charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and larceny. East Haven Police Chief Ed Lennon reiterated the importance of using safe swap locations, noting that the department provides a designated secure zone in the lobby and parking lot of police headquarters for these transactions.
