New Haven Man Arrested After Smoke Shop Robbery and Attempted Knife Attack in East Haven

EAST HAVEN, CT — East Haven police have arrested a New Haven man following a violent robbery at a local smoke shop during which he allegedly threatened an employee with a knife. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after the incident took place.

According to police reports, officers responded to a call regarding a robbery in progress at a smoke shop located in East Haven. The suspect had entered the store, brandished a knife, and demanded money and merchandise from the employee behind the counter. During the encounter, the suspect attempted to attack the worker with the blade, but the employee was able to avoid injury.

The suspect fled the store with stolen items but was located nearby by responding officers. He was arrested without further incident and faces charges of first-degree robbery, criminal attempt to commit assault with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a dangerous weapon. He is currently being held on bond pending arraignment.
