Ax-Wielding Suspect Breached Edmond Trading Card Store During Severe Winter Storm

EDMOND, Oklahoma — A local trading card and collectible store in Edmond became the target of a bizarre and destructive burglary during a severe winter storm, with the suspect using an ax to breach the building.

The Break-In

While heavy snow and freezing temperatures kept most residents indoors, security cameras captured the suspect approaching the storefront. The individual, carrying an ax, used the tool to smash through the front glass door of the trading card shop. Once inside, the suspect focused on display cases containing high-value collectible cards, sports memorabilia, and gaming products before fleeing into the storm.

A Devastated Small Business

The store owners discovered the break-in the following morning when they arrived to clear snow. They expressed deep frustration, not only for the loss of valuable inventory but also for the extensive damage caused by both the ax and the exposure to freezing winter conditions through the shattered entrance.

"It is hard enough running a small business, but having someone smash their way in with an ax during a storm is incredibly disheartening," the store owner said. Edmond Police are reviewing the surveillance footage and believe the suspect may have targeted specific high-value items, indicating some familiarity with the store layout. Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed a vehicle parked near the shop during the storm to come forward.
