String of Broward Smoke Shop Break-Ins Met with Resistance as Fort Lauderdale Owner Thwarts Burglary

A series of commercial burglaries targeting smoke shops and vape stores has swept through Broward County, particularly affecting businesses in Fort Lauderdale. Over several months, multiple establishments have reported late-night smash-and-grab incidents executed by organized groups of thieves.

Multiple Break-Ins Caught on Camera

Surveillance footage from several smoke shops has captured similar tactics: thieves smashing front glass doors, quickly looting shelves of high-value vaporizers, glass pipes, and cash, and fleeing in getaway vehicles. In one instance, a shop owner lamented the damage, saying, “It's not worth it,” referencing the low resale value of the stolen goods compared to the thousands of dollars in property damage caused by the break-ins.

Owner of 954 Vapes Fights Back

The burglary pattern met resistance at a local shop named 954 Vapes. During an early morning break-in attempt, the owner, who was present or alerted by security systems, managed to scare off the intruders. Police reported that the suspects fled the scene empty-handed after realizing the owner was prepared to defend the store.

Ongoing Police Search for Suspects

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department and the Broward County Sheriff's Office are collaborating to determine if the same crew is behind all the incidents. Security videos showing three suspects are being distributed widely to help the public identify the individuals responsible.
