Fort Lauderdale K-9 Cop Shot by Burglary Suspect Expected to Make Recovery

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL — A Fort Lauderdale Police Department K-9 is on the mend and expected to make a full recovery after being shot while chasing a commercial burglary suspect. The incident occurred during a tense pursuit in the city, prompting a massive response from local law enforcement.

The police dog, who was assisting officers in tracking the suspect, was struck by gunfire when the individual turned and opened fire on the pursuing unit. The K-9 was rushed to a local veterinary emergency facility, where veterinarians stabilized the animal and treated its wounds.
