Central Fresno Burglary Suspect Apprehended After Falling Through Ceiling

FRESNO, California — A commercial burglary suspect was taken into police custody in central Fresno on Tuesday after a failed attempt to hide in a building's attic ended with him falling through the ceiling.

Officers with the Fresno Police Department responded to reports of an active break-in at a business location in the central part of the city. Upon arrival, officers secured the exterior of the property and entered the structure to search for the intruder. During the search, officers heard distinct movement noises emanating from the space above the ceiling tiles.

As police were positioning themselves to intercept the suspect, the individual lost his footing and crashed through the ceiling structure, landing directly on the floor below. Officers immediately moved in and detained the suspect without further incident. The suspect was evaluated by emergency medical personnel for any injuries sustained in the fall before being formally booked into the Fresno County Jail on commercial burglary charges.
