Houston AutoZone Burglary Ends in Fatal Feeder Road Crash Along Katy Freeway

HOUSTON, Texas — A late-night burglary at an AutoZone auto parts store in west Houston ended in tragedy when a suspect vehicle crashed violently along the Katy Freeway feeder road, leaving at least one person dead.

The incident began when police responded to a burglary alarm at the AutoZone location. Officers arriving at the scene observed a vehicle fleeing the area at high speed. A short time later, the suspect vehicle lost control and crashed on the Interstate 10 (Katy Freeway) feeder road. The impact of the collision was severe, resulting in a fatality at the scene. Authorities blocked off the feeder road for several hours to conduct an investigation and clear the wreckage.

The Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crime Division, alongside commercial burglary detectives, are working together to reconstruct the sequence of events. Investigators are reviewing whether police pursuit played a role and are identifying the deceased and any surviving occupants of the vehicle. Further charges are pending the completion of the crash investigation.
