Joliet Police Arrest Smoke Shop Superstore Burglar Hiding Behind Store

JOLIET, IL — A break-in at a local smoke shop was foiled by the rapid response of the Joliet Police Department, resulting in the immediate arrest of the burglar who was found hiding behind the business premises.

The incident occurred in the early hours at the Smoke Shop Superstore. Officers were dispatched to the scene following an automated alarm activation indicating a breach at the rear entrance of the store. Upon arrival, officers established a perimeter around the building to prevent any potential escape.

During a search of the immediate area, police located a male suspect crouched behind large trash receptacles at the back of the property. The suspect was found in possession of burglary tools and merchandise matching the store's inventory. He was arrested without further incident.
