Joliet Police Arrest Serial Burglar Targeting Dan's Candies and Banana Joe's

JOLIET, IL — A serial burglar targeting downtown Joliet businesses has been arrested and charged after a string of break-ins, according to criminal complaints filed by prosecutors. Among the targeted establishments were local favorites Dan's Candies and Banana Joe's.

The Joliet Police Department initially apprehended the suspect following a burglary at a downtown Joliet business on March 25, 2026. However, authorities state that the suspect's criminal activities persisted, leading to additional charges in connection with subsequent burglaries at multiple other commercial establishments throughout April.

According to prosecutors, the suspect entered Dan's Candies and Banana Joe's, causing property damage and stealing merchandise and cash. Joliet Police detectives utilized surveillance footage and forensic evidence to link the suspect to the series of commercial break-ins, leading to formal charges in Will County court.
