Man Arrested After Breaking Into Kennewick Burger King and Trapping Worker in Freezer
A Kennewick man faces serious charges, including kidnapping and burglary, after allegedly breaking into a local Burger King restaurant and trapping an employee inside a walk-in freezer during the early hours of Monday morning, authorities reported.
According to the Kennewick Police Department, the incident began when the suspect gained unauthorized entry into the fast-food establishment located on a major commercial avenue. A lone employee who was working inside the building at the time was confronted by the intruder. The suspect forced the worker into the walk-in freezer, locking the door to prevent them from calling for help or interfering with the burglary.
Despite the harrowing situation, the employee managed to remain calm and was eventually able to alert authorities once the suspect moved away from the freezer area. Officers arrived at the scene within minutes, securing the perimeter and freeing the trapped employee, who was shaken but uninjured. The suspect was located inside the restaurant and arrested after a brief confrontation. He is currently being held at the Benton County Jail pending formal charges.
