Two Charged with Robbery After Police Pursuit From Southern Indiana Into Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A dramatic police pursuit that began at an Indiana shopping mall came to a safe conclusion in Louisville’s Portland neighborhood, leading to the arrest of two individuals on multiple felony charges.
Escalating Shoplifting at Greentree Mall
The incident began on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, when Clarksville police officers were dispatched to the JCPenney department store inside the Greentree Mall in Clarksville, Indiana. Loss prevention officers had observed two female suspects, later identified as Jalisa Box and Shannon Pruitt, attempting to steal approximately $1,000 worth of store merchandise. When loss prevention staff confronted the suspects, the encounter turned physical, elevating the crime from shoplifting to robbery.
Cross-Border Police Chase
Box and Pruitt fled the mall in a vehicle, which was quickly spotted by responding officers. The driver refused to pull over, initiating a high-speed chase. The pursuit wound through downtown New Albany, Indiana, before the suspect vehicle crossed the state line over the Sherman Minton Bridge into Kentucky. The suspects sped into Louisville's Portland neighborhood, pursued by police units from both states.
Arrests and Charges
The chase finally ended near the intersection of 33rd Street and Bank Street in Louisville, where the vehicle was cornered, and both suspects were taken into custody without further incident. Box and Pruitt were transported to the Clark County Detention Center in Indiana. Both face a litany of charges, including robbery, felony theft, battery on loss prevention staff, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, criminal recklessness, reckless driving, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
