Suspect Apprehended in Lynchburg After Twin Assaults and Attempted ATM Robbery

LYNCHBURG, VA — A series of violent encounters on Boonsboro Road ended with a suspect behind bars after alert citizens intervened to assist an elderly victim. The Lynchburg Police Department confirmed the arrest of 22-year-old Kylee Xavier Burrell Martin following two separate assaults and an attempted robbery on November 21, 2025.

Two Separate Assaults in Quick Succession

The incident began in a local business parking lot on Boonsboro Road. According to police reports, an adult male wearing a face mask approached and assaulted an elderly man. Shortly after the initial confrontation, the masked suspect targeted an elderly woman who was utilizing an automated teller machine (ATM) nearby, attempting to rob her.

Witnesses at the scene did not hesitate to act. Several bystanders stepped in, confronting the suspect and halting the assault on the female victim. Their quick intervention allowed police officers to arrive quickly and apprehend the suspect without further injury to community members.

Martin Faces Multiple Charges

Kylee Xavier Burrell Martin was taken into custody by responding officers and transported to the local jail. Martin has been charged with multiple offenses, including assault and battery as well as attempted robbery. The Lynchburg Police Department commended the bravery of the citizens who intervened, noting that their actions prevented a potentially much worse outcome.
