Detectives Recover $400,000 in Stolen Amazon Merchandise, Arresting Two in Modesto-Turlock Sting

MODESTO, California — A major blow has been dealt to local cargo theft and fencing operations following the recovery of approximately $400,000 in stolen Amazon merchandise. Stanislaus County sheriff's deputies arrested two men during operations in Modesto and nearby Turlock, wrapping up a multi-week investigation into retail and cargo theft networks.

According to reports from the Modesto Bee and ABC10, detectives executed search warrants at multiple properties, discovering a massive stockpile of stolen goods still in their original Amazon packaging. The recovered merchandise ranged from consumer electronics to household appliances, all destined for illegal resale channels, commonly known as fencing operations.

The two suspects arrested face charges including grand theft, possession of stolen property, and conspiracy.
