Man Arrested for Snatching Mobile Phones from Girls at Peoria Store

PEORIA, Illinois — Peoria police have apprehended a man accused of stealing mobile phones directly out of the hands of young girls shopping at a local store.

Witnesses reported that the suspect approached the victims inside the establishment, grabbed their devices, and ran out of the store. A quick response from nearby bystanders and prompt notification to law enforcement allowed officers to track down the suspect nearby shortly after the incident took place.

The suspect was charged with theft and contributing to the delinquency of minors. The recovered cell phones were returned to their owners. Police are encouraging shoppers to remain alert and keep their personal belongings secure while in public areas.
