Southeast Raleigh Homeowner Shoots Intruding Burglar on Rose Lane

RALEIGH, N.C. — A home break-in attempt in southeast Raleigh turned violent on Wednesday when a homeowner shot an intruder who was trying to force entry into the residence.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the incident occurred at a home located on Rose Lane. Officers responded to a call regarding shots fired at the property. The preliminary investigation revealed that the homeowner confronted a man who was actively attempting to burglarize the house. During the confrontation, the homeowner discharged a firearm, striking the suspect.

The injured suspect was transported to a local hospital with injuries that were reported to be non-life-threatening. Police have secured the scene and are currently conducting interviews with witnesses and the homeowner. No charges have been filed against the homeowner at this stage, as the investigation focuses on the suspect's unlawful entry and the homeowner's right to self-defense.
