Two Charged with Murder of Co-Conspirator in Fatal Raleigh Home Invasion

RALEIGH, N.C. — Two men are facing first-degree murder charges following a violent home invasion at a Raleigh apartment complex that left one of their own alleged co-conspirators dead.

The incident occurred in mid-August when a group of suspects attempted to breach an apartment in Raleigh. During the confrontation and subsequent exchange of gunfire, one of the home invasion suspects was critically injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where, despite receiving medical treatment, he succumbed to his injuries approximately one week later.

Under North Carolina's felony murder rule, individuals participating in a dangerous felony can be charged with murder if a death occurs during the commission of the crime. Raleigh detectives investigated the incident and subsequently arrested and charged two other men believed to have been involved in the break-in with the murder of their fellow accomplice.

The names of the suspects and the victim have been withheld pending further legal proceedings. Law enforcement officials emphasized that home invasions are incredibly dangerous operations that frequently result in tragic outcomes for all parties involved.
