Smash-and-Grab Robbers Leave Behind $100,000 in Damages at Riverside Smoke Shop

A Riverside smoke shop was left with extensive property damage and merchandise losses totaling over $100,000 following a destructive smash-and-grab burglary on August 9, 2024. The incident has highlighted a recent surge in organized retail theft affecting businesses across the region.

Severe Property Damage and Inventory Losses

According to store representatives and responding officers, a group of individuals broke through the store's front entrance, shattering heavy glass doors and windows. Once inside, the perpetrators quickly moved through the store, smashing glass cases and clearing shelves of valuable merchandise, including specialty electronics, premium smoking accessories, and cash from the register.

The owner of the business expressed deep frustration over the incident, noting that the physical destruction to the storefront and interior fixtures accounts for a significant portion of the total $100,000 financial hit, in addition to the stolen inventory. The store will remain closed for several days to undergo cleanup and security upgrades.

Riverside Police Department detectives are reviewing security camera footage, which captured multiple masked individuals executing the break-in in under two minutes. Investigators are calling on anyone with information or dashboard camera footage from the area at the time of the incident to contact the police department.
