Daisean Davis Sentenced to 21 Years for Brutal Rockford Schnucks Robbery and Hammer Attack

ROCKFORD, Ill. — A Rockford man has been sentenced to more than two decades in prison for a violent grocery store robbery in which he attacked an employee with a hammer, Winnebago County court officials announced.

Daisean Davis, the suspect behind the attack, received a 21-year prison sentence after being convicted of armed robbery and aggravated battery. The incident occurred at the Schnucks supermarket in Rockford, where Davis entered the store, attempted to steal merchandise, and confronted a store worker. During the altercation, Davis struck the employee with a hammer, causing injuries before fleeing the scene.

Law enforcement quickly located and arrested Davis following the violent confrontation. During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors detailed the severity of the attack and the threat posed to store employees and the general public. The victim received medical treatment for injuries sustained during the incident and is recovering.

Under Illinois sentencing guidelines, Davis will be required to serve a significant portion of his 21-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
