Three Rockford Juveniles Apprehended in Mulberry Street Tobacco Shop Burglary

ROCKFORD, Ill. โ€” Three juveniles are facing charges after allegedly breaking into and burglarizing a tobacco retail store on Mulberry Street, Rockford police confirmed.

Officers were dispatched to the Mulberry Street location following an activated commercial burglar alarm. Upon arrival, police observed signs of forced entry, including shattered glass at the storefront. A search of the immediate area led officers to locate three youths matching the descriptions of individuals seen fleeing the property.

The three suspects, whose names have been withheld due to their juvenile status, were taken into custody and charged with burglary and criminal damage to property. Police recovered stolen merchandise, including tobacco products, in their possession. The juveniles were processed and released to the custody of their guardians or juvenile authorities pending court proceedings.

The Rockford Police Department continues to work with local business owners to enhance security measures and prevent juvenile commercial burglaries in the downtown area.
