Repeat Offender Arrested After $400 Liquor Theft in South Seattle Commercial Burglary

SEATTLE, WA โ€” Seattle police officers arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of commercial burglary early Tuesday morning after he broke into a business and stole hundreds of dollars in liquor.

On March 31, 2026, at approximately 4:15 a.m., patrol officers responded to a burglary alarm at a business located in the 5200 block of Rainier Avenue South. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the front door had been forced open, a window was shattered, and a metal pry bar had been left at the scene.

Suspect Apprehended with Duffel Bag

Officers searching the neighborhood located a man matching the suspect's description walking a few blocks away. The suspect was carrying a large duffel bag containing the following evidence:

  • Stolen alcohol valued at approximately $400
  • Tools consistent with entry methods used at the store

The suspect initially denied any involvement in the burglary to the responding officers. However, investigators subsequently reviewed surveillance footage from the targeted business, which clearly depicted the suspect breaking into the building and removing the merchandise.

Criminal History and Booking

The stolen liquor was recovered by officers and returned to the business owner. Investigators confirmed that the 37-year-old suspect has a prior conviction for attempted burglary. He was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on charges of burglary.
